The life drawing part of Issac's portrait was complete, but wanting to convey his gaming personality I added Darthfruit, the gnome he customized as one of his World of Warcraft characters. Aesthetically, I knew that adding anything to the drawing might detract, especially a video game character. But, I like mixing high art and low art, traditional and postmodern approaches. Issac is a computer gamer par excellence and has been since it all started (I don't know how to play games, not even cards). I chose finding a way into his world and visually sharing it over the purity of the drawing. |
