This image is put together from pieces of torn canvas. I have literally cut myself out of the conventional picture frame. I am off the wall, drumming up a feisty, wild woman for my old age. I like the new feeling of oneness with nature that comes from the hag's ability to laugh at decay.
In these life-size cut-outs I am re-enchanting the crone who has been so horribly effaced and defaced in our culture. We have to look at the old woman in ourselves to really see her and to bring forward powerful and playful images of aging.
